Zwei AfD-Stadträte in Karlsruhe angegriffen – weitere Angriffe auf Politiker

On Saturday, two AfD members were assaulted in Karlsruhe, with two city councilors being lightly injured. In a separate incident in Dresden, a man unexpectedly punched a state parliament member in the face. Additionally, attacks on SPD and Left party members occurred on Friday.

According to reports, nationwide, several politicians have been targeted. In Karlsruhe, two AfD city councilors were attacked by masked individuals in front of a café in the city center. Three people, including the councilors, sustained minor injuries and received on-site treatment. Five individuals were temporarily detained by the police and later released after their identities were confirmed. Other suspects managed to flee the scene.

The AfD stated that the councilors were attacked with a baseball bat, although the police found a stick at the location. The police spokesperson mentioned that they could not confirm nor deny the use of a baseball bat. The attack was allegedly linked to the radical left-wing scene, as per the AfD in the Karlsruhe city council.

Furthermore, another incident occurred in Dresden on Saturday, where the Saxon AfD state parliament member, Hans-Jürgen Zickler, was assaulted at an information stand. The attacker was apprehended until law enforcement arrived, and a complaint was filed for the assault.

In a separate account, on Friday, the SPD organized a campaign event in Bargteheide, where an explosive device was thrown into a crowd. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. In Eisenberg, Thuringia, the Left party candidate for the state parliament, Steffen Much, was verbally abused and physically attacked in a supermarket, although he remained unharmed and filed a complaint against the perpetrator.
