Transfermarkt: Former Augsburg Coach Maaßen Lands New Job in Switzerland

In an exciting development, former Augsburg coach Enrico Maaßen has secured a new position in Switzerland. The 40-year-old will be taking over from a future Bundesliga coach in his new role.

After more than eight months since his departure from FC Augsburg, Enrico Maaßen has found a new coaching opportunity. The 40-year-old is set to join Swiss top-tier club FC St. Gallen. The announcement was made by the club on Saturday.

Maaßen has signed a contract with FC St. Gallen until 2027. He will be stepping into the shoes of Peter Zeidler, who is moving to VfL Bochum in the Bundesliga for the upcoming season after six years at the helm of FC St. Gallen.

„I am delighted with the trust shown by the decision-makers and look forward to the challenges ahead,“ Maaßen was quoted in the press release. „I was impressed by the respectful manner in which they approached me. I immediately felt the energy and stability of the club and am convinced of the potential of the team and the entire organization.“

For Maaßen, St. Gallen marks his first coaching role abroad. Following stints at Drochtersen/Assel, Rödinghausen, and Borussia Dortmund II, Maaßen took on the coaching position at Bundesliga club FC Augsburg in 2022. However, he was let go in the previous season after just one win in the first seven games.

Overall, this move to FC St. Gallen represents a new chapter in Maaßen’s coaching career, and he is eager to make his mark on the Swiss football scene.
