New „Deadpool & Wolverine“ Trailer Reveals Female Deadpool
Ryan Reynolds is not the only Deadpool actor in „Deadpool & Wolverine,“ that has been known for a while. Now, a new trailer officially confirms the appearance of Lady Deadpool – but who will play the character in the upcoming Marvel film?
„Deadpool & Wolverine“ is a movie full of cameos and Easter eggs, as the two official trailers for the film have made clear, with almost every shot containing some hidden detail to discover. A new trailer for the highly anticipated MCU film has been released, revealing another cameo, after hints on artwork and merchandise for the film: Lady Deadpool will also appear in „Deadpool & Wolverine.“ The short scene can be found in the trailer above after about 30 seconds.
Lady Deadpool is a female version of the character, known as Wanda Wilson in the comics (as opposed to Wade Wilson alias Deadpool) and comes from Universe 3010 (as opposed to Universe 616, the main Marvel Comics universe). Otherwise, both versions of the character are very similar and have very similar superpowers.
The most exciting question for „Deadpool & Wolverine“ is who will play Lady Deadpool in the Marvel film. There are already wild speculations in fan circles about who might take on the role, with the most common guess being Blake Lively. Lively and Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds have been married since 2012, making it a fitting choice for his wife to play the female Deadpool.
Another possibility is Morena Baccarin, who played Vanessa in „Deadpool“ and „Deadpool 2“ and will reprise her role in „Deadpool & Wolverine.“ Perhaps in the Marvel Multiverse, there is a world where Vanessa became Deadpool instead of Wade? Similar ideas have been explored in the MCU with characters like Captain Carter in „What If…?“ and „Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness.“
An alternative theory suggests that Taylor Swift could also make an appearance as Lady Deadpool. The pop superstar has been linked to various Marvel projects in the past and while usually associated with Marvel popstar and X-Men member Dazzler, playing Lady Deadpool is not out of the question.
[UPDATE June 11, 2024] Entertainment Weekly reports that Taylor Swift will not be appearing in „Deadpool & Wolverine“ and therefore will not play Lady Deadpool. However, there may still be a role for the pop star in another Marvel film in the future.
It will likely be revealed closer to the release of „Deadpool & Wolverine“ who will play Lady Deadpool. The film is set to premiere in Germany on July 24, 2024.
