The new episode of „Schlager-Spaß mit Andy Borg“ on October 3 on SWR Television surprisingly reached high ratings, despite the unusual time slot and simultaneous football broadcasts. On German Unity Day, a total of 0.987 million viewers nationwide tuned in to SWR, resulting in a strong market share of 3.9%. In the broadcast area, the numbers were 0.318 million viewers with a market share of 6.5%. This special edition of Schlager-Spaß will be shown on the MDR channel a week later, on Friday evening, October 11.
Hosted by Andy Borg, the show featured stars from the world of Schlager and well-known folk musicians for a fun night of music. This time, there was an international flair as the host welcomed artists from Switzerland, South Tyrol, Germany, Austria, Australia, and even Bavaria. The evening kicked off with Sašo Avsenik & his Oberkrainer from Slovenia performing „Hallo kleine Maus.“ Andy Borg fulfilled a viewer’s request with his song „In 10.000 Jahren,“ and the Hofer Sisters impressed with their rendition of „Ob-la-di, ob-la-da“ by The Beatles.
Jonny Hill addressed the serious topic of Alzheimer’s in his new song „Solange er noch weiß, wer ich bin,“ dedicated to a friend with the disease. Rising singer Andreas Hastreiter delighted the audience with a Gus Backus medley, while Monique from Switzerland presented „Blue Flamingo.“ Nico and Leon made their debut on Schlager-Spaß with an old Roberto Blanco hit, „Puppenspieler von Mexiko,“ performed with just a keyboard and guitar.
Andy Borg also fulfilled more viewer requests at the jukebox, including „Es gibt kein Bier auf Hawaii“ sung by Reiner Kirsten. The Black Forest Brass Band, led by Australian trumpeter and conductor Dee Boyd, brought a touch of British brass band sound to the show.
