Yama Wayama’s mangas „Captivated, by You“ and „Let’s Go Karaoke!“ are set to receive TV anime adaptations. Visuals and a teaser can be found below in the article.
Both animes are being produced simultaneously. Asami Nakatani (Yohane the Parhelion) will be directing at Doga Kobo, with support from Yukiko Tsukahara (The Imaginary). Yoshimi Narita (Twilight Out of Focus, Dance Dance Danseur) will be in charge of the scripts, while Mai Matsuura (KING OF PRISM by PrettyRhythm, The Stories of Girls Who Couldn’t Be Magicians) will create the character designs. Takurō Iga (Trillion Game, Oshi no Ko) will be responsible for the musical accompaniment.
Wayama released „Let’s Go Karaoke!“ in 2019, and Kadokawa published it as a single volume in September 2020. A live-action film was released in 2023. „Captivated, by You“ was released in February 2019. This single volume is a collection of Wayama’s „Ushiro no Nikaidō“ Boys-Love manga strips with a 30-page sequel story. Wayama is also known for the manga „Onna no Sono no Hoshi.“ Yen Press has secured the English licenses for both mangas. The mangas have not been released in German yet.
Plot of „Let’s Go Karaoke!“:
Satomi Oka is most concerned about the final choir competition in his middle school career until he is approached by a stranger with the words „Let’s go Karaoke!“. This person is the yakuza Kyouji Narita, who, not easily scared, seeks Satomi’s help due to poor future prospects. His boss will hold a karaoke contest, and the loser will be forced to get a tattoo selected and tattooed by the boss. Oka has participated in many voice competitions, but never had a one-on-one karaoke session with a gangster.

Hayashi’s open and innocent demeanor silently attracts the attention of classmates and strangers as he counts the steps in the school building, takes pictures of street signs, and dries sweet potatoes on the classroom balcony. In an adjusted world, Hayashi’s nature is refreshing and honest. Nikaidou is the exact opposite. He has worked hard to build a dark facade to keep his classmates at bay. While many in the school view Nikaidou as a bad omen, one student can catch a glimpse behind the mask, and undeterred by rumors of misfortune and superpowers, he recognizes the true self of Nikaidou.
