Severe Weather Warning for Ulm Area: Tennis Ball-Sized Hail Expected

Residents of the Ulm area and Landkreis Neu-Ulm should be prepared for severe weather on Wednesday evening. The German Weather Service (DWD) has predicted thunderstorms with heavy rain and hail, with some hailstones reaching up to four centimeters in diameter, equivalent to the size of a table tennis ball.

The storms are expected to hit the Neu-Ulm area around 6:00 to 6:15 pm local time. The DWD warns of heavy rainfall, with rates of up to 35 liters per square meter per hour. In some areas, extreme weather conditions could bring over 50 liters per square meter in a short amount of time. Additionally, strong gusts of wind up to 100 km/h from the west cannot be ruled out. The storms are expected to move eastward and weaken as the night progresses.

Residents are advised to stay indoors and take precautions to protect themselves and their property during the severe weather. It is important to secure outdoor objects that could be blown away by strong winds and to avoid driving during the storm if possible.

Stay tuned to local weather updates and follow any instructions or warnings issued by the authorities. Remember to stay safe and seek shelter in a sturdy building if the weather conditions worsen. Let’s all stay prepared and look out for each other during this period of severe weather.
