Serious Accident on A3: Autobahn Closed in Hamminkeln
A serious accident occurred on Thursday afternoon on the A3 near Hamminkeln. The highway is closed in the direction of Oberhausen.
According to police, a car collided with a truck in the afternoon between the Hamminkeln and Wesel exits. The 21-year-old driver from the Netherlands was seriously injured in the crash.
The car ended up under the truck upon impact and caught fire. A rescue helicopter transported the seriously injured driver to the hospital.
Due to the smoke development, the highway was initially closed in both directions. The road towards Oberhausen is closed from Hamminkeln until approximately 9 p.m. The opposite lane towards Arnheim is already reopened.
