In Gummersbach-Nochen, a 55-year-old woman was lightly injured in a collision at the intersection. According to police information, a 58-year-old woman from Gummersbach wanted to turn left onto Gelpestraße from Nochener Straße with her Hyundai Tucson. The woman apparently did not see the Toyota Corolla driven by the 55-year-old woman from Engelskirchen, who had the right of way and was heading towards Hülsenbusch. The 58-year-old woman was uninjured.

As a result of the collision, the Toyota also collided with a property wall and slid approximately 150 meters through the green strip before coming to a stop on the opposite lane.

Gelpestraße was fully closed until around 8 a.m. There was a long traffic jam from Hülsenbusch. While cars were able to turn around, several buses were stranded on the narrow road. Vehicles coming from Engelskirchen were able to turn towards Berghausen.

The incident caused a significant amount of debris to scatter on Gelpestraße, creating a hazardous situation for other motorists and pedestrians. The cleanup process required the assistance of emergency services and road maintenance crews to ensure the road was safe for travel once again.

Local residents expressed concern over the frequency of accidents at the intersection and called for additional safety measures to be implemented to prevent future incidents. Authorities reassured the community that they would investigate the circumstances of the collision and take necessary steps to improve road safety in the area.

Drivers were advised to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to avoid accidents and ensure the safety of all road users. It is essential for motorists to remain vigilant and attentive while behind the wheel, especially at intersections where the risk of collisions is higher.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible driving and the need to prioritize safety on the roads. By staying alert and following traffic rules, motorists can reduce the likelihood of accidents and contribute to creating a safer environment for everyone.
