The Nuremberg Customs Office is hosting an Open House event this weekend as part of the city’s Open House Day. They will be providing information on travel, import regulations, and training opportunities. The Customs Office has been located in the former Südkaserne for over 20 years and will be setting up an information stand on the square next to their neighbor, the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF).

Visitors can stop by the information stand to get answers to all their questions about traveling, EU import regulations, and training opportunities with the customs administration. Experts will be showcasing confiscated goods to demonstrate which souvenirs are prohibited.

A customs control unit will explain how they combat smuggling and intercept illegal items on a daily basis. A special highlight for both children and adults will be the K-9 demonstrations. Throughout the day, at 10:30 am, 12:30 pm, and 2:30 pm, skilled moderators will showcase the abilities of their sniffer dogs as they sniff out suitcases and search for drugs.

In addition to the information and demonstrations, visitors will have the opportunity to interact with customs officers and learn more about the important work they do to protect the borders and ensure the safety of the community. This event is a great opportunity for the public to gain a better understanding of the role of the customs office and the challenges they face in their daily operations.
