Michael Unterbuchner Clinches Final Spot in Europe Super League with NEXT GEN Order of Merit Victory
The NEXT GEN Circuit 2024, a crucial determining factor for players vying for a spot in the Europe Super League to compete for a place at the PDC Darts World Championship, has come to a close.
On Sunday, Michael Unterbuchner celebrated a double victory with his overall win in the NEXT GEN 18. Known as T-Rex, Unterbuchner’s triumph propelled him up seven spots in the NEXT GEN Order of Merit, securing a place in the top 14.
The top 14 players on this ranking list will compete in the Europe Super League, where the overall winner will earn a ticket to the Darts World Championship. Joining Unterbuchner in this prestigious lineup are Steven Noster, Marcel Hausotter, Kai Gotthardt, Marcel Gerdon, Pascal Wirotius, Sascha Stuhlemmer, Kevin Troppmann, Franz Rötzsch, Patrick Klingelhöfer, David Jeske, and Jannis Barkhausen.
In a historic moment, Patrick Tringler becomes the first Austrian to participate in the Europe Super League. While Tringler had already secured his spot, he managed to improve his ranking by three places over the past weekend, now standing at third place on the leaderboard.
Niko Springer, topping the Order of Merit for the NEXT GEN, also earns the right to compete in the Europe Super League. However, Springer is virtually guaranteed a place in the Darts World Championship through the Development Tour Order of Merit, making it unlikely that he will need to participate in the Europe Super League. In such a scenario, Michael Hurtz, who slipped from 14th to 15th place on the NEXT GEN Order of Merit, will benefit and still have the opportunity to compete in the Europe Super League.
The NEXT GEN Circuit comprises 18 tournaments held in Austria and Germany. Eligible participants must be at least 16 years old, lack a PDC Tour Card, and hold German, Austrian, Swiss, Luxembourgish, or Liechtenstein citizenship.
