One of the main focuses of JUWI’s appearance is the direct supply of solar power to industrial companies. Currently, JUWI is building a ten-megawatt solar park for SPIES Packaging in Melle, Lower Saxony, which delivers electricity directly to the manufacturer’s factory. In addition, revamping is one of the key topics at the JUWI booth this year. For over a year, the Renewable Energy Sources Act has opened up new opportunities for operators to replace modules within the EEG term. Other core topics of JUWI’s appearance include the acquisition of project rights, cybersecurity, and electricity marketing through JUWI’s sister company, MVV Trading, as well as JUWI’s new employer branding. „We have a well-filled project pipeline with a number of large projects that are already aiming to reach the 5,000-megawatt threshold of installed solar capacity today. Especially in Germany, we are increasingly planning projects that focus on supplying industrial customers with green electricity and combining it with storage technologies,“ explains Carsten Bovenschen, CEO of JUWI GmbH.
Currently, the company is preparing to build more large solar parks with a capacity of over 100 megawatts each in the United States. In the state of Colorado, where the company’s US branch is located, JUWI is currently constructing three photovoltaic projects with a total capacity of more than 500 megawatts (DC). While the „Spanish Peaks“ project has been under construction since the end of last year, the sale of two more PV projects to the energy provider Tri-State from Colorado was sealed in early June. Axial Basin Solar is a 186-megawatt (DC) project in Moffat County, around 250 miles northwest of Denver. Dolores Canyon Solar is a 141 MW (DC) project in Dolores County, around 400 miles southwest of Denver. JUWI will soon begin construction on both projects.
Revamping and Cybersecurity
Another significant part of JUWI’s presence in Munich is the company’s operations management offering: In addition to operating solar parks, maintaining them, and providing 24/7 remote monitoring, JUWI also offers a range of additional services. This includes the secure connection of solar and wind parks to the data network with the Secure Connect solution. An increasingly important role is also played by the revamping of solar parks – the replacement of modules in existing plants. Operators are responding to module degradation, which averages 0.5 to 1 percent of output. Over the past seven years, the JUWI operations management division has replaced around 720,000 modules with a total capacity of around 119 megawatts in 18 solar parks. In addition to insurance claims, the possibilities of the EEG 2023 are also increasingly playing a role. For about a year and a half, older modules in existing parks can be replaced without defect, without losing EEG funding.
New Employer Brand
Just in time for the start of Intersolar in Munich, JUWI will present its newly designed employer brand. With upcoming major projects and a growing market, the company plans to hire additional employees in the coming months. „With the slogan ‚Our unity works,‘ we are advertising for both experienced professionals and young talents,“ Bovenschen further explains. The pioneer in renewable energy, established for almost 30 years, emphasizes the cooperative corporate culture and underlines its sustainable business model.
