Giovanni Zarrella opens up about a 14-year career crisis

Giovanni Zarrella, known for his work as a singer and moderator on ZDF, recently spoke about the toughest years of his career. In an interview, Zarrella revealed that he struggled with self-doubt for a significant period.

After achieving success with three albums where he covered hits by other artists in Italian, the 46-year-old is now releasing his own original songs. The first single was released last Friday, with the full album set to follow in the fall. This new project comes with its risks, but Zarrella, being one of the biggest stars in the German Schlager scene, can afford to take chances. His own Saturday night show, „Die Giovanni Zarrella Show“ on ZDF, has become a staple on German television.

Following his comeback as a solo artist in 2019, things have been going well for Zarrella. However, it was a different story for the 14 years between the end of his time with the casting band Bro’Sis and his solo success. Zarrella admitted that during that time, no one noticed his musical efforts. Despite being seen on television frequently, people assumed he was doing well.

Reflecting on his past, Zarrella admitted to experiencing more moments of self-doubt than confidence in his life. He acknowledged that his career is a marathon, not a sprint, and while he may have lost some sprints along the way, he remains positive about his journey.

Looking back on his time with Bro’Sis, Zarrella considers it a crucial part of his career. He credits his participation in the casting band in 2001 for putting him on the musical map. Zarrella expressed gratitude towards his former bandmates, emphasizing that he cherishes the memories from that time.
