The Rolling Stones have announced a new live album titled „Welcome to Shepherd’s Bush.“ Although it’s not a concert from their recent „Hackney Diamonds“ tour for the album of the same name, it does come with a special feature: the 1999 concert will be the band’s first release in 4k UHD and Atmos sound, as reported by the record company.
„Welcome to Shepherd’s Bush“ will be released on December 6, 2024, and will include the London „Clubshow“ in various formats for purchase. These formats include a double-CD (limited to 15,000 copies), Blu-ray plus 2 CDs, double LP, D2C two-LP set in white 180-gram vinyl, and 4k UHD. It’s the full Christmas package for fans.
On June 8, 1999, the Rolling Stones performed at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London in front of approximately 1,800 fans. They were joined by several guest stars including Anita Pallenberg, Aerosmith, Jerry Hall, Jon Bon Jovi, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, Bob Geldof, Pete Townshend, and Lenny Kravitz. Sheryl Crow also supported them as the opening act. It was a night full of celebrities sharing the stage like never before.
Some highlights of the 90-minute set include the band’s only live performance of „Moon Is Up“ from the „Voodoo Lounge“ album of 1994, as well as „Melody“ from „Black and Blue,“ which had not been played since 1977 in Toronto. The live performance of „Brand New Car“ was only done seven times ever, with the last performance in 2002. Another memorable moment was Sheryl Crow joining the band on stage for a powerful rendition of „Honky Tonk Women.“
The tracklist for „Welcome to Shepherd’s Bush“ includes songs like „Shattered,“ „It’s Only Rock ’n‘ Roll,“ „Respectable,“ „All Down the Line,“ „Some Girls,“ „Melody,“ „I Got the Blues,“ „Brand New Car,“ „Moon is Up,“ „Saint of Me,“ „Honky Tonk Women“ (with Sheryl Crow), „You Got the Silver,“ „Before They Make Me Run,“ „Route 66,“ „You Got Me Rocking,“ „Tumbling Dice,“ „Brown Sugar,“ and „Jumpin‘ Jack Flash.“
