The Wiesmoorer open-air stage lineup for the upcoming year is starting to fill up. Most recently, the German answer to Depeche Mode, Alphaville, has been announced. The Dark Tenor is also expected to perform.
The news is so fresh that it’s not even on the organizer’s website yet. Just in time for the start of ticket sales, the editor received information from organizer Dennis Athen of „Mein Lieblingevent“ from Schortens: The band Alphaville will be performing at the Wiesmoorer open-air stage on Saturday, June 7, 2025. Alphaville was founded in Münster in 1983 as a synth-pop trio and gained international fame early on with hits like „Big in Japan,“ „Sounds Like A Melody,“ and „Forever Young.“ The latter was often covered – including by global superstar Beyoncé.
Earlier this year, the band experienced a revival on the online platform Tiktok with short videos for the song „Forever Young“ in celebration of their 40th anniversary. Users shared videos from their lives featuring the hit song released on September 3, 1984. Alphaville was once considered the German equivalent of Depeche Mode with their early works. The band is currently on tour for their 40th anniversary, releasing the album „Alphaville Forever! Best of 40 Years“ for this occasion.
The Dark Tenor, led by Billy Andrews, is also part of the Wiesmoorer open-air stage lineup. Only Marian Gold (vocals) from the founding members remains, now 70 years old, with his distinctive voice. The current lineup includes five musicians on stage instead of the original three, featuring keyboards, drums, and bass. Alphaville has released eight studio albums and several live albums, all of which made it to the German album charts. Tickets for Alphaville are available on Nordwest-Ticket, Eventim, and other well-known outlets like Blumenhalle Wiesmoor and OZ Media-Stores starting at 75 Euros. The concert will begin at 8 pm.
The program at the open-air stage is filling up with Alphaville joining the lineup. Prior to their performance, The Dark Tenor will present his program „Symphony of Light“ on Friday, July 25, 2025. The show, combining rock and classical music, starts at 8 pm (doors open at 6:30 pm). With over 260,000 albums sold (Gold status) and multiple chart placements, The Dark Tenor, led by Billy Andrews, is one of the most successful artists in his genre. Since 2015, a fixed lineup has been performing in concert halls across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
The aim of Andrews is to provide access to world-famous classical themes with a contemporary pop and rock attitude and sound to every listener, whether a fan of classical, rock, or pop music. He bridges the gap between the world of classical music and youth culture by integrating 3D printing for classical instruments, LED technology, and artificial intelligence. Tickets for his show start at 55.50 Euros at well-known outlets.
In addition to these performances, the band BAP has also been announced. Despite singing in Cologne dialect, BAP has been captivating fans in Germany and abroad for over 40 years. As part of their „Time Travel 81/82“ tour, the band led by singer Wolfgang Niedecken will stop in Wiesmoor on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 8 pm on the open-air stage. The setlist will feature songs that are at least 40 years old from the breakthrough albums „Für usszeschnigge“ (1981) and „Vun drinne noh drusse“ (1982) as well as the album „Zwesche Salzjebäck un Bier“ (1984), including hits like „Verdamp lang her“ and „Kristallnaach.“
Samu Haber will also be performing in Wiesmoor on August 7, 2025, as part of his „Summer 2025“ open-air tour. The Finn gained international recognition as the voice of the band Sunrise Avenue. In 2006, the band achieved great success with „Fairytale Gone Bad.“ Two years ago, the band split up – Samu Haber has already announced a solo album for October 2024 and will be going on tour.
For young rockers, the band Heavysaurus offers kid-friendly themes and lyrics. Four dinosaurs and a dragon rock the children’s rooms of the nation with titles like „Chewing Gum is Awesome!“ or „French Fries Fork.“ On Sunday, August 17, 2025, the band will bring unconventional musical education to Wiesmoor. Alongside the reptiles, children’s songwriter Volker Rosin, musician and DJ Nilsen, and singer Isa Glücklich will also take the stage at the premiere of the „Wiesmoor Kids Festival.“
