Exploring Kesslers Expedition: A Review of RBB Technology
Michael Kessler embarks on another exciting expedition this summer for Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb), following his extraordinary adventures on the Spree and in the Uckermark. Despite just having aired out his hiking shoes after a journey with donkey Elias to the Baltic Sea, the actor and comedian is drawn back to nature. This time, following in the footsteps of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, he sets out on a raft from the source to the mouth of the Havel River, covering a distance of 309 kilometers.
In the second episode of Kessler’s expedition, he travels 64 kilometers from Himmelpfort to Bernöwe on his raft. Along the way, he encounters Andrea and Ines, who introduce him to the art of fishing. These young women, who grew up in the area but now reside in Berlin, share a relaxing moment with Kessler by the waters. At the Bredereiche lock, Kessler observes the clumsy maneuvers of another leisure captain, Ralf, who hails from Saarland and is vacationing with his wife Petra and two children aboard a yacht without the proper license.
Near Burgwall, Kessler meets Mike, a financial advisor from Berlin who owns a holiday home with a picturesque pier. Mike credits his wife’s sociability for acquiring this beautiful property. In the town square, Kessler encounters four lively ladies who spend their mornings reminiscing under an old oak tree. Despite the transition period, these women had no issues during the reunification, unlike their husbands.
Upon returning to his raft, Kessler encounters a setback when the motor fails to start. Is this the end of the expedition? Not quite, as help arrives just in time. Throughout his journey, Kessler encounters various individuals, including a retired couple from Holland who enjoy spending their vacations on bicycles.
With each encounter, Kessler’s expedition unfolds with unique experiences and unexpected turns, showcasing the beauty of the Havel River and the diverse characters who call its banks home. As Kessler navigates the waters, he learns valuable lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and the kindness of strangers.
