The new Ford Mustang GTD has been unveiled as a limited, street-legal version of the GT3 race car. It features adaptive suspension and active aerodynamics, which are banned under competition regulations. Producing over 800 horsepower from a turbocharged 5.2-liter V8 engine, this Mustang comes with a hefty price tag of $325,000, making it the most expensive Mustang in the 60-year history of the lineup. Despite the high price, there has been significant interest in the vehicle, with over 7,500 applications received in the past 37 days when the offer was open in the United States and Canada. Now, it’s Europe’s turn to experience the extreme Mustang with a Performance Package, as Ford brings it to Le Mans.

The Ford Mustang GTD Carbon Series 2025 will make its debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend with a new Performance Package. This package includes a driver-focused interior, visible carbon fiber elements, and a striking Chroma Flame paint job. The Performance Package is designed to help the Mustang GTD achieve a lap time of under 7 minutes at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. It includes a larger front splitter, underbody flaps, and a rear wing air resistance reduction system. These active aerodynamic elements aim to reduce drag on straightaways without compromising aerodynamic grip in corners. Additionally, the package features a Lightweight Package, which removes some noise-dampening materials, adds 20-inch magnesium wheels, and includes a unique front splitter. While the Performance Package is exclusive to the Carbon Series model, it can be utilized for the entire Mustang GTD lineup.

Standard features on the Ford Mustang GTD include Recaro seats and a new Mustang GTD steering wheel. At Le Mans, the GTD interior will be showcased for the first time. The flat-bottomed steering wheel boasts a thick, well-padded rim with high-quality Dinamica inserts, leather wrapping, and carbon fiber accents. Exclusive to the Mustang GTD are buttons on the steering wheel for adjusting suspension stiffness and exhaust modes, allowing the driver to focus on the road while fine-tuning cornering behavior and acceleration sound. Two new buttons are also located on the Hero Panel in front of the gear lever to access the Track Apps page and activate a function to raise the front axle, aiding in avoiding obstacles in parking lots and driveways.

Drivers have more control over how the standard eight-speed dual-clutch transmission manages the over 800 horsepower of the turbocharged 5.2-liter V8 engine, thanks to the prominent 3D-printed titanium paddle shifters. The switch knob in the center console is also made of titanium. The new Chroma Flame paint job of the Mustang GTD takes center stage at Le Mans. It is one of six standard colors for the Mustang GTD and is offered exclusively for this model. The deep burgundy hue complements the Carbon Series equipment, emphasizing the carbon fiber body and leaving the hood, roof, and rear Tech Deck unpainted while the wheels (aluminum or magnesium) are painted in Magnetite. Body-colored or contrast-painted stripes are available, as well as options for Grabber Blue, Race Red, or black painted brake calipers.

The Sync 4 Infotainment system now features Unreal Gaming Technology, with Mustang GTD-specific welcome and goodbye graphics on the 13.2-inch touchscreen and the reconfigurable digital 12.4-inch display. Each of the six driving modes features a Mustang GTD, while the new Performance Display is exclusive to the top of the line Mustang performance. It highlights the gear indicator and tachometer, removing all unnecessary information. The European debut of the Mustang GTD coincides with the official opening of the application window for the European market. On June 13 at 1 PM CEST, potential Mustang GTD customers in the European Union can apply to purchase the boldest Mustang ever on TheMustangGTD.com.
