Nach Rauswurf: ProSieben holt „Schlag den Star“ mit Elton zurück ins TV
ProSieben’s decision to continue „Schlag den Star“ without Elton caused quite a stir in the celebrity world. However, the beloved host is making a comeback on the show soon.
„I am truly speechless, angry, but above all extremely sad. Not even a farewell show is granted to me after 23 years at ProSieben. Unbelievable! […] Once again: pure disappointment,“ expressed Elton towards his former employer upon learning about his dismissal from „Schlag den Star“. He only found out about his removal when his management inquired about some rumors at the network.
His successor, Matthias Opdenhövel, who returned to the show after 13 years, has already hosted the first episode. However, viewers will still get to see Elton in action on „Schlag den Star“ – albeit through reruns.
ProSieben repeats old „Schlag den Star“ episodes
During the Euro Cup, Elton will be back on ProSieben as well. While he hosts the EM Studio on RTL, he will also make appearances on ProSieben during the football fest.
Starting from June 19th, the network will revisit old episodes of „Schlag den Star“ with Elton as the host. The lineup includes The BossHoss, Bastian Bielendorfer, and Özcan Cosar. On June 26th, Chris Tall and Pietro Lombardi will face off, followed by Michael Bully Herbig and Rick Kavanian on July 3rd. On July 10th, TV total takes over, also in reruns.
Matthias Opdenhövel celebrated a unique premiere upon his return to „Schlag den Star“ on June 2nd. For the first time in the show’s history, a replacement candidate had to be used. Former football pro Mehmet Scholl lost in the first three games against his former Euro Championship colleague Markus Babbel and was eventually replaced by another 1996 hero, Thomas Helmer. Opdenhövel cited Scholl’s acute knee problems as the reason for his exit.
