Steczyk Must Go – Strong Words Leading to Departure
In January, Dominik Steczyk made the move from Ruch Chorzow to Preußen Münster. The 25-year-old striker played 14 games for Münster and scored the winning goal in March against Erzgebirge Aue. However, it was recently hinted that his contract with the newly promoted team would not be extended – a decision that came as a surprise to the Polish player.
„After our promotion celebration, coach Sascha Hildmann assured me that he would like to continue with me,“ Steczyk stated in an interview with „Bild-Zeitung“. Peter Niemeyer had seen a certain potential in Dominik Steczyk at one point. Against Münster’s powerhouse duo Jogel Grodowski and Malik Batmaz, who scored a total of 34 goals and assisted in eight more, Steczyk found it challenging to shine.
Steczyk played 14 games for SCP and scored one goal. He mostly served as a substitute and was only evaluated in two matches. In the 3-2 away victory against Aue, he came on in the 80th minute for Joel Grodowski and scored the winning goal a minute later. In his only start against SSV Ulm, Steczyk played in the left attacking midfield position and had a weak performance.
