The new Porsche 911 Carrera T is all about focusing on the essentials. With a focus on agility, lightweight measures, and emotional sound, along with the six-speed manual transmission, it is the ideal Carrera for purists. Specially designed equipment packages tailored to the Carrera T ensure stylish individuality. For the first time, the Carrera T is also available as a cabriolet.
Porsche is expanding the model range of the new 911 with the lightweight and highly dynamic 911 Carrera T. Weight-reducing measures, a dynamic setup, and a manual six-speed gearbox make it a puristic Carrera for enjoyable drives. With lightweight glazing, reduced insulation, and a manual six-speed gearbox, the new 911 Carrera T weighs only 1,478 kilograms in the lightest configuration with full bucket seats. This makes it over 40 kilograms lighter than the current 911 Carrera. For the first time, the 911 Carrera T is also available as a cabriolet.
The abbreviation „T“ stands for „Touring“ and dates back to the homologation of the 911 T as a touring car in 1968 at Porsche. The first 911 T was produced until 1973. Since 2017, the 911 Carrera T has been part of the model lineup. Pure driving pleasure, agile handling, emotional sound, and a focus on the essentials characterize this rear-wheel-drive sports car.
The 911 Carrera T is powered by the 3.0-liter six-cylinder twin-turbo boxer engine of the 911 Carrera. It delivers 290 kW (394 PS) and generates a torque of up to 450 Newton meters. A standard manual six-speed gearbox transmits the drive to the rear axle. Downshifting is supported by an auto-blip function that automatically and precisely adjusts speed differences between the engine and gearbox. With the standard Sport Chrono package, the Carrera T Coupe accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds (4.7 seconds for the Cabriolet). The top speed is 295 km/h (293 km/h for the Cabriolet). To cope with the power increase compared to its predecessor, the Carrera receives a larger brake system with 350mm discs all around and six-piston fixed calipers at the front. The standard sports exhaust system, in combination with the reduced interior insulation and auto-blip function, provides a particularly emotional sound experience.
The Carrera T also comes standard with an adaptive sports suspension (PASM) with a 10mm lower ride height, which has a model-specific sporty setup that enhances driving fun and agility. With the standard rear-axle steering and a specifically optimized aerodynamic balance, the stabilizers at the front and rear axles could be adjusted to a neutral driving behavior. The 911 Carrera T sits on 20/21-inch Carrera S alloy wheels. The front axle uses 245/35 ZR20 tires, and the rear axle uses 305/30 ZR21 tires.
Numerous visual differentiations set the Carrera T apart from other models in the series. A sticker with a shift pattern logo on the rear triangular windows identifies it as a manual, particularly puristic representative of the model series. The model designation on the rear is in the contrast color Vanadium Gray. Matching this, the inserts in the rear decklid grille, the outer mirror upper and lower shells, and the glossy turned alloy wheels are painted in Vanadium Gray Metallic. Another feature of the Carrera T is the aerodynamically optimized spoiler lip taken from the 911 Carrera GTS.
To enhance the sporty character of the interior, the Carrera T comes standard with black, four-way electrically adjustable sports seats with Sport-Tex center panels. The fabric pattern „Plaid“ is exclusive to the 911 Carrera T, and the headrests feature an embroidered 911 logo. Optionally, adaptive sports seats Plus (18-way adjustable) or particularly lightweight full bucket seats are available.
The 911 Carrera T gains additional exclusivity through the Carrera T design packages for the exterior and interior. They introduce the classic Porsche color Gentian Blue as a striking color contrast. In the exterior, the inserts in the rear decklid, the Carrera T decals on the front and rear decklids and doors, the MT stickers, and the alloy wheels with glossy turned surface are executed in this color. The exterior mirror upper shells are in black. Gentian Blue contrast stitching instead of the standard black decorative stitching enhances the interior, and the seats feature Gentian Blue contrast stripes. Additionally, the color adorns the safety belts, the trim strips of the center console and door panels, the contrast inserts, and the embroidered 911 logo on the headrests.
