On August 8, 2024, around 3:40 pm, a serious traffic accident occurred on the B105. According to current information, the 77-year-old German driver of a Opel car was traveling on the B105 from Stralsund towards Greifswald. For reasons unknown, the car veered into the oncoming lane and collided sideways with an oncoming MAN truck. The Opel then further crossed into the oncoming lane, went onto the shoulder, and spun counterclockwise. At that time, the 26-year-old driver of a van was in the oncoming traffic. He could not stop in time and collided with the passenger side of the Opel. The MAN was damaged at the front axle in the collision with the Opel and was no longer fully steerable. As a result, the truck veered into the oncoming lane and collided with a Hyundai car. Flying debris from the vehicles lightly damaged another car that was also passing through the accident scene at that time.

During the accident, a 76-year-old passenger in the Opel (resident in LK V-G) was critically injured and unfortunately passed away at the scene. Additionally, two other individuals were severely injured but not in a life-threatening condition, and four people sustained minor injuries. All the injured individuals were taken to nearby hospitals by ambulances. The estimated property damage amounts to approximately 65,000 euros. Following the directive of the public prosecutor’s office, a DEKRA employee was called in to investigate the exact cause of the accident. The B105 was fully closed for about six hours during the accident investigation and vehicle recovery.

All individuals involved in the accident are German citizens between the ages of 12 and 77. Apart from four patrol cars from Grimmen and Stralsund, a rescue helicopter, eight ambulances, three emergency physician vehicles, three patient transport vehicles, the emergency medical services organization of LK V-R, and firefighters from five volunteer fire departments in the area were also on site.
