A concerned citizen informed the Neunburg police on Wednesday evening that he had spotted a small rabbit on the cemetery grounds in Neunburg vorm Wald (District of Schwandorf). The officers responded and were able to rescue the „little bunny.“ According to the police, the officers converted a cardboard box into a transport box and took the „anxious and weak hopper“ to a veterinarian. The vet determined that it was a hare that would not survive without human intervention.
The police established contact with the Städtedreieck animal welfare association and handed the hare over to their care. The hare will need to be fed with milk every two hours to ensure its continued good health, the police concluded.
