At the end of October, Regensburg will once again be immersed in pop culture. From October 25th to 27th, the fifth edition of the Regensburg Pop Culture Festival „PUSH“ will focus on the current, vibrant, and innovative pop culture scene in Regensburg. Over the weekend, the city’s creatives will take center stage with more than 60 events at 20 venues showcasing young regional artists in music, theater, literature, film, and visual arts.

The festival will showcase the contemporary free cultural scene in all its diversity: from concerts and performances to numerous participatory projects, newly developed formats, events in special locations, activities in public spaces, as well as socio-cultural and ecological themes, highlighting both the content and aesthetic diversity.

The festival kicks off on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 6 p.m. with the opening of the exhibition „Echo: Traces of the Self“ curated by photographer and artist Paul Dittmann at the M26 cultural space (Maximilianstraße 26). The exhibition explores questions of identity by questioning cultural origins, gender roles, and the influence of our environment on our self-perception.

Local heroes and national up-and-comers take center stage at PUSH with a lineup of 20 live shows at eight venues featuring bands and solo artists of various styles. Regensburg will host a total of 18 bands, including popular acts such as „Anda Morts,“ „Kapa Tult,“ and „Endless Wellness“ from the German-speaking indie-pop scene.

The festival will also feature theater performances, improvisation shows, and thought-provoking readings. Emma Meyer will present her final project „Gewehre“ at M26, while the „Anonymous Reading“ will showcase anonymously submitted texts like short stories, diary entries, and unsent love letters. Lena Kampf will read from the book „Row Zero – Abuse of Power in the Music Industry“ followed by a discussion.

Filmmaker Lars Smekal will present his award-winning films in a retrospective titled „Mit offenen Augen durchs Leben,“ featuring a selection of films that explore Regensburg’s music scene and entertaining commercials. The Transit Film Festival will host an „Infinite Showcase“ of video works and performances, along with a digital artist talk with the media guerrilla group „Total Refusal“ from Vienna.

In addition to performances, Push will offer a variety of workshops ranging from improv theater and songwriting to urban sketching and video production, providing attendees with opportunities for networking, learning, and new experiences. The festival pass, available for ten euros, grants access to all events, with detailed program information available on the festival’s website and social media channels.

Don’t miss out on this exciting weekend celebrating Regensburg’s vibrant pop culture scene!
