About the Musical

Based on Charles Dickens‘ renowned Christmas tale „A Christmas Carol,“ producer Dirk Michael Steffan crafted a musical that premiered in Oberhausen in 2001. The story, set in 19th-century London, follows the cold-hearted moneylender Ebenezer Scrooge, who mistreats his debtors during Christmas. Everything changes when he receives strange visitors on Christmas Eve, including his deceased business partner Jacob Marley’s ghost, urging him to become a better person. Together with a mysterious angel, they embark on a journey through time, uncovering the reasons behind Scrooge’s bitterness. Ultimately, Scrooge rediscovers the love of his life and finds the key to a happier existence. The transformed miser celebrates Christmas wholeheartedly for the first time, alongside those he once despised.

Please note that the Metronom Theater is currently undergoing renovations for performances, and there are no waiting areas available for accompanying persons of the children.
