Nina Gummich and Aurel Manthei, who played the lead roles in the popular crime series „Theresa Wolff,“ have decided to step down from their roles. The production company Ziegler Film announced on their website that the current Jena-based investigative duo, Nina Gummich as forensic pathologist Theresa Wolff and Aurel Manthei as detective Bruno Lewandowski, will be leaving the show by their own choice to pursue new opportunities.
The final episode featuring Gummich and Manthei, titled „Theresa Wolff: Lost,“ is set to air on November 23rd at 8:15 pm on ZDF, and will be one of the last three episodes of the „Theresa Wolff“ series. The air dates for the remaining two episodes have not been announced yet, but if the one-episode-per-year schedule is maintained, viewers can expect the last two episodes to air in 2025 and 2026.
Replacing the outgoing duo, a new investigative team has already begun filming in the city of Jena. Actress Emily Cox will take on the role of forensic pathologist, lecturer, and forensic entomologist Dr. Mala Murphy, while actor Golo Euler will portray Jena’s chief detective Moritz Herbst. The series will undergo a name change, now being called „Thüringenkrimi,“ reflecting the change in cast and direction while maintaining some familiar faces like Peter Schneider as Dr. Zeidler and Sahin Eryilmaz as Detective Ceyhan Topal.
The new film „Lost“ follows Dr. Theresa Wolff as she is faced with a dangerous situation when an armed man interrupts a routine autopsy, leading to a tense standoff. Meanwhile, the first case of the new investigative duo revolves around a fatal car accident involving a controversial family judge. As Dr. Murphy and Chief Detective Herbst delve into the case, they uncover more mysteries surrounding the judge’s death, including evidence of foul play and deception.
With the departure of Nina Gummich and Aurel Manthei, fans of the „Theresa Wolff“ series can look forward to fresh storylines, new characters, and intriguing mysteries in the upcoming „Thüringenkrimi“ series, promising a thrilling and engaging viewing experience for crime drama enthusiasts.
