The popular dating app Tinder has been promoting Queer friendliness in the Pride Month of June. Tokio Hotel’s Bill Kaulitz (34) joined in by posting a Reel video mocking stereotypes in a humorous way. In the video, Kaulitz jokingly says lines like, „I like men, of course I drink champagne for breakfast“ while standing at the fridge, or „I like men, of course I wear penis slippers in my house.“ He also adds, „…of course, I never leave the house without makeup.“

As part of the campaign, Tinder is also producing a web series focusing on the real life experiences of the LGBTQIA+ community. The episode featuring Bill Kaulitz is set to be released on June 19, 2024. The term LGBTQIA+ stands for Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual individuals, with the plus sign representing other identities.

Bill Kaulitz, who grew up near Magdeburg, shared, „For years, I was told to keep my sexuality a secret. I realized that having secrets is more exhausting for me than just being open. In recent years, I have experienced the freedom of being authentic, without drawing boundaries between Bill and Bill on stage.“ He mentioned that society has tried to confine him in a narrow box of prejudices, norms, and expectations since his childhood, simply due to confusion and overwhelm with his appearance, way of speaking, singing, dressing, and performing. However, he believes that it’s important to break out of these stereotypes eventually.
