The SchulKinoWoche Saarland: Fostering Educational Engagement Through Film
The SchulKinoWoche Saarland, now in its 23rd edition, is set to take place from November 11th to November 15th, 2024, across various cinemas in Saarland. This annual event invites students from all types of schools and grade levels to trade their classroom seats for cinema chairs. With 18 Saarland film theaters opening their doors, a total of 71 educational films will be showcased throughout the week.
Participants can expect a diverse selection of films, including valuable feature films, documentaries, and animations suitable for educational purposes. In addition to the scheduled screenings, schools will have the opportunity to organize customized showings based on their preferences.
Exploring Current Themes Through Film
This year, the SchulKinoWoche Saarland will focus on a range of societal issues that are prevalent in today’s world. Special attention will be given to films aligned with the „17 Goals – Cinema for a Better World“ of the UN’s Agenda 2030 for sustainable development, as well as the theme of the Science Year 2023 – Our Universe.
A key highlight of this year’s program is the exploration of the radicalization of young people through film. Engaging film discussions and cinema seminars will be offered to delve deeper into this pressing topic.
Exciting Collaboration with the Günter Rohrbach Film Award
A new addition to this year’s SchulKinoWoche is the collaboration with the Günter Rohrbach Film Award. In early November, the Stummsche Reithalle in Neunkirchen will host screenings of the four finalist films. These screenings will be complemented by introductory sessions on the themes explored in the films, followed by opportunities for engaging discussions.
Students from all types of schools and grade levels, along with their teachers, are encouraged to participate in this enriching experience. The admission fee is 4 euros per student, with accompanying adults granted free entry. Registrations for the 23rd SchulKinoWoche are open until October 31st.
