Thomas Jäger Dominates the Competition at Baden-Württembergischen Straßenlaufmeisterschaften
The team from LAC Essingen showcased their strength and determination at the start of the intense championship season. Competing in the Baden-Württembergischen Straßenlaufmeisterschaften over ten kilometers in St. Leon-Rot, the runners impressed with their performance. The picturesque golf course provided a flat and fast course for the nearly 300 participants. In the end, LAC Essingen walked away with two championship titles and a silver medal.
One standout performer of the day was Thomas Jäger, who displayed peak form early in the race. In the M65 age group, Jäger crossed the finish line in an impressive time of 40:57 minutes, securing the championship title. His performance not only earned him individual success but also laid the foundation for the M60 team’s victory. Running in his wake, Rainer Strehle claimed the silver medal in the M60 age group with a time of 41:51 minutes. Siegfried Richter rounded out the team with a strong fourth-place finish in 42:50 minutes. Together, the trio captured the Baden-Württembergischen Meistertitel in the M60 team category. Gerhard Emmenecker, also known as „Emma,“ contributed to the team’s solid performance with a sixth-place finish in a season-best time of 44:44 minutes.
Women’s Success: Kristina Schmid Sets New Club Record
The women of LAC Essingen also had reasons to celebrate at the competition. Kristina Schmid set a new club record in the women’s category with a time of 43:07 minutes, securing the 16th place. Following closely behind, Jana Löffelhardt claimed the 21st spot with a time of 42:02 minutes, showcasing her strong form.
Impressive Debuts and Personal Bests
Several members of the team achieved personal milestones at the event. Pascal Hirsch and Christian Gruhn completed their first 10-kilometer race with new personal best times of 43:45 minutes and 40:08 minutes, respectively. Davide Romano in the M35 category also achieved a personal best time of 46:21 minutes, setting himself up well for the upcoming marathon. Michael Gügel in the M45 age group delivered a standout performance, finishing with a new personal best time of 39:45 minutes and securing the fifth place in his category.
Overall, the LAC Essingen team displayed an impressive and cohesive performance, setting a promising tone for the upcoming championship season.
